Ive been wanting to buy a laptop for so long now, it feels like I’ve had one for ages.
Now I want a new one.

Does anyone know of anyone that’s coming back from the states in the next couple of weeks?

Its forty minutes later-
I still haven’t called.

I’ll just call tomorrow.

Im very bad at calling people back. That’s one reason why I cant think of running an office of my own. I am, by nature, a procrastinator.

Its two days later.

Laptops are fast becoming obsolete.
I think ill get one of those tablet PCs. I shouldve stolen it when I had the chance.

I didn’t call up arqam sadly. But he called yesterday and said that he wanted to come over to drop off our invitation for his shaadi.

Hes getting married.

In Lahore.
So unless he brings over an airline ticket with his shaadi card its really quite useless giving us the card. I didn’t tell him that.
But we might be going to Lahore for his william though. Or at least I would like to. I don’t know if chots will get time off or not. So I cant say for sure right now.
Atti Anju have a house there so its always fun to go live with them. And im assuming the weather isnt that bad in November. We can be all tourist-y.
But I don’t want to dress up and go to the shaadi.
I hate dressing up.

7 Things I hate
1) getting dressed for a shaadi/formal evening.
2) people that talk when someones singing.
3) cell phones (I fear i’ll have to start using one again)
4) people who smoke with no consideration for the people around them.
5) masking tape that doesn’t stick.
6) other peoples pets.
7) blowing the horn when you drive up to the gate. Especially at night.

Im listening to The Verve these days.
Actually I keep hearing two tracks on repeat for the past 3 days.
Ones called “sonnet” and the other is “the drugs don’t work”. I actually first heard the verve because ben harper was once asked in an interview as to what is that one song he wishes he had written. And he said “sonnet” by The Verve.
Which is really true cos its just the most amazing piece of songwriting EVER.
Also ‘the drugs don’t work’, but ‘sonnet’ is just perfect.

I wish I had written it.

15 days since I last wrote that blog.
Things have changed.
Some for the better—some not so much-

Miqs bought my laptop for me.
That’s good.
Lots and lots of people died in the past couple of weeks.
Not so good.

Let me know how many days its been.

I think the earthquake did much much more damage than we realise.
For instance, the damage to creative writing is irreparable.
After the earthquake the blogging frequency of the average Pakistani dropped considerably. Case in point: mariams blog.
But then again- mariam is no average Pakistani.

In the past couple of days its come to my attention that a lot more people read this blog than I had previously thought.
Not that that bothers me.
But it does kind of put the pressure on. But thats alright. Pressures’ my middle name.

Oddly enough.

Rida is hinas friend and work colleague that smokes and that’s why we shall not name our daughter after her.
Chots is hina.
Rida goes by the name Bono. God knows why. And I refuse to address her online until she changes her name.
Some things you just don’t mess with.

The first blog I ever wrote was actually addressed to hina—cos I figured she would be the only one who would ever be reading this.
I was wrong.
It was miq.
